This vessel is from a series of colorful explorations in enhancing surface design with texture.
What is the name about?
As I developed these pieces, I began to realise that their key feature is the uncanniness of the surface. When exhibiting, the texture of these vessels creates a childlike reaction in viewers, drawn in by what it looks like and how its initial appearance is different to how it feels.
It got me thinking about onomatopeic words: Onomatopoeia is a figure of speech where words phonetically imitate, resemble or suggest the natural sounds they describe.
I’m all about honesty and accessibility when it comes to describing and engaging with my work. These pieces imitate or evoke a feeling which is playful and unserious, unique to both myself and the viewer.
